Julius Hensel was a German agricultural chemist who propagated mineral field fertilization with rock flour (stone meal). He believed that remineralizing soil with crusite rock dust would improve plant health and nutrition. His book "Bread from Stones" influenced organic farming movements. His work anticipated modern understanding of the importance of trace minerals in agriculture.
