Guido von List was an Austrian occultist who wrote the German book titled "Das Geheimnis der Runen" (The Secret of the Runes). He developed a system of runology and promoted a mystical interpretation of Germanic history and mythology. His work on the Armanen runes influenced later esoteric and neo-pagan movements. He founded the Guido von List Society to promote his ideas.
