And Ioseph came and told Pharao, [saying]: "My father, and my brothers, and their cattle, and their oxen, and all that is theirs, are come out of [the] land of ChanaƔn, and behold: They are in [the] land of Gesem."
And he took along of his brothers five men, and set them before Pharao.
And Pharao said to the brothers of Ioseph: "What is your occupation?" And they said to Pharao: "Your servants are shepherds of sheep, both we and our fathers."
And they said to Pharao: "We are come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for the flocks of your servants, for the famine has prevailed in [the] land of ChanaƔn. Therefore, your servants will now dwell in [the] land of Gesem."
And Pharao said to Ioseph: "Let them settle in [the] land of Gesem. And if you know that there are capable men among them, appoint them as rulers of my cattle." And Iakob and his sons came into Aigyptos, to Ioseph. And Pharao, [the] king of Aigyptos, heard [of it].
And Pharao spoke to Ioseph, saying: "Your father and your brothers have come to you. Behold: The land of Aigyptos is before you. Settle your father and your brothers in the best land."
And Ioseph brought in his father Iakob, and set him before Pharao. And Iakob blessed Pharao.
And Pharao said to Iakob: "How many are the years of the days of your life?"
And Iakob said to Pharao: "The days of the years of my life, wherein I sojourn, are a hundred thirty years. Few and grievous have been the days of the years of my life. They did not attain to the days of the years of the life of my fathers, in which days they sojourned."
And Iakob blessing Pharao, he departed from him.
And Ioseph settled his father and his brothers, and granted them a holding in [the] land of Aigyptos, in the best land, in [the] land of Ramesses, as Pharao had ordered.
And Ioseph gave provision to his father, and his brothers, and to all the house of his father, grain for every body.
And there was no grain in all the land, for the famine prevailed greatly. And [the] land of Aigyptos, and [the] land of ChanaƔn, failed because of the famine.
And Ioseph gathered all the silver that was found in [the] land of Aigyptos, and [the] land of ChanaƔn, [in return for] the grain which they bought, and he distributed grain to them. And Ioseph brought all the silver into the house of Pharao.
And all the silver from out of [the] land of Aigyptos and from out of ]the] land of ChanaƔn failed. And all the Aigyptiois came to Ioseph, saying: "Give us bread loaves", and "Why are we dying in your presence, for our silver has failed?"
And Ioseph said to them: "Bring your cattle, and I will give you bread loaves for your cattle, if your silver has failed."
And they brought their cattle to Ioseph. And Ioseph gave them bread loaves in return for the horses, and for the sheep, and for the oxen, and for the donkeys. And he maintained them with bread loaves for all their cattle in that year.
And that year came to an end, and they came to him in the second year, and said to him: "Must we then be consumed from before our lord, for if our silver has failed, and our possessions and our cattle [belong] to you, our lord, then there has not been left to us before our lord more than our own body and our land.
So lest we die before you, and the land be desolated, acquire us and our land for bread loaves, and we and our land will be servants to Pharao. Give seed that we may sow, and live and not die, so our land shall not be desolated."
And Ioseph acquired all [the] land of the Aigyptiois for Pharao, for the Aigyptiois sold their land to Pharao, because the famine prevailed against them. And the land became Pharao's.
And he brought the people into bondage to him, as servants, from one extreme boundary of Aigyptos to the [other] extreme,
except only [the] land of the priests. Ioseph did not acquire this, for by a grant Pharao gave a gift to the priests. And they ate their portion which Pharao gave them. Therefore, they sold not their land.
And Ioseph said to all the Aigyptiois: "Behold: I have acquired you and your land today for Pharao. Take seed for yourselves, and sow the land.
And there will be produce from it. And you shall give the fifth part to Pharao, and the four [remaining] parts shall be for yourselves, as seed for the land, and as food for you, and all that are in your houses."
And they said: "You have saved us. We have found favor before our lord, and we will be servants to Pharao."
And Ioseph appointed it to them for an ordinance upon [the] land of Aigyptos until this day: to give a fifth part to Pharao, except only [the] land of the priests, [as] that was not Pharao's.
And IsraƩl settled in [the] land of Aigyptos, in [the] land of Gesem. And they gained an inheritance upon it. And they increased and multiplied exceedingly.
And Iakob survived seventeen years in [the] land of Aigyptos. And Iakob's days of the years of his life were a hundred and forty-seven years.
And the days of IsraƩl drew near for him to die. And he called his son Ioseph, and said to him: "If I have found favor before you, put your hand under my thigh, and [swear that] you shall bring about mercy and truth for me, so as not to bury me in Aigyptos,
but [that] I will lie with my fathers. And you shall carry me out of Aigyptos, and bury me in their sepulchre." And he said: "I will do according to your word."
And he said: "Swear to me." And he swore to him. And IsraƩl did obeisance upon the top of his staff.
